Photonic Characterization and Modeling of Highly Efficient Color Conversion Layers with External Reflectors

We propose a new method for fabricating arrays of colloidal quantum dots color conversion layers (CCLs) with atomic layer deposited (ALD) encapsulation. Semiconductor processes were used to transfer the CCL onto transparent glass substrate. This enables pixels as small 5 μm, and pixel's size pitch can be controlled through semiconductor process mask layout. A dual-color array red-and-green was also demonstrated suitable microdisplay applications in experiments. The best efficiency single reached high 20.7%. set distributed Bragg reflector mirrors increase photon recycling, these yielded an peak intensity 35.7%. formulated model incoherent reflection transmission calculate changes properties when are added; this had close fit results from experiments which different coefficients used. Through use ALD, stored at normal room-temperature environment more than 9000 hours, projected lifetime is linearly extrapolated 44,041 hours.
